Social Club TV for Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto 4
One of the best selling video games in history, Grand Theft Auto 4 brings players into Liberty City, a fictional city based on modern day New York City. In its first week, GTA4 sold 3.7 million units earning more than $500 million in revenue. The story line follows Niko Bellic, a war veteran from Eastern Europe entering a world of gangs, crime and corruption as he tries to make a life for himself and his cousin.
Introducing In-Game Video
In December of 2008 Rockstar released GTA4 for the PC, adding functionality allowing users to record in-game video from the viewpoint of their character. Players can take video footage of car chases, crashes, gun fights, and fist fights and edit their videos at their local internet cafes. Once in the café, users upload, rate and share videos with their friends. Additionally, all videos can be accessed outside of the game through Social Club TV. Social Club TV essentially serves as a virtual in-game You-Tube.
An Active Community
Once in Social Club TV, users can create profiles to rate videos, comment and enter a variety of contests sponsored by Rockstar games. Social Club TV has been wildly popular since its launch with some of its most popular videos viewed over 400,000 times.
