Connections Director

About the Position

The Connections Group at Rokkan is looking for a passionate and experienced Connections Director to join our growing, dynamic team. This person will have a focus on paid media and has potentially taken a more “traditional” media career path thus far.

Now, they are ready for an energizing change that will give them opportunities to expand a department and work alongside disciplines such as creative, user experience and technology. Collaboration is part of our agency’s DNA and we want this Director to find the best processes whereby media and creative strategies can align.

This department has grown from initial beginnings as “Media and Analytics,” and evolved into the Connections Group in early 2017. Media and analytics are at our core but we are also actively developing more formalized offerings in CRM and SEO. We believe Connections is a more accurate description that reflects the way we use media, measurement, channels and data to deliver the best consumer experiences as well as strong business results.

An example of this person’s work would come to life is through: messaging frameworks for campaigns (outlining when/where users would see specific messages, based on a creative idea), channel rationale and recommendations, suggested budget breakouts for these channels, campaign KPIs and priority metrics. New business contributions and pitching would also be a significant part of this role.

  • Department leadership, helping to define and drive the overall vision for media at Rokkan
  • Regular client interaction to align on any changing business or marketing needs
  • Collaboration with cross-discipline teams, including Client Partnership, Analytics, Creative, UX and Production
    • Collaboration with partner agencies, including other media and creative agencies
  • Act as the lead RKN media expert for assigned clients, overseeing media strategy, planning and partnership with analytics team as needed
  • Partner with analytics counterparts to perform ongoing campaign analysis, directly impacting messaging, creative optimization and/or planning and buying decisions
    • Establish and refine campaign and media KPIs + metrics, where applicable
    • Analysis of multiple sources of data to assist in media strategy and planning decisions – i.e. first-party data from clients, third-party media research tools, industry articles and trends
  • Mentorship and management of peers and junior team members
  • Contributions to agency and industry thought leadership, as necessary
  • 7-8+ years of digital media strategy and planning, including team management and supervision
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; relentlessly pushing the department toward new ideas and ways of working
  • A natural storyteller that knows how to craft a clear narrative with a point of view
  • Both branding and direct response experience preferred; traditional and search marketing experience a plus
    • Experience planning and buying across a wide variety of digital formats and types, including: high impact and rich media, paid social, mobile, video, native and programmatic/RTB
    • Knowledge of ad server technology and understands basic ad tag set up and structure (both for advertising assets/banners and web)
  • Experience with web analytics and social analytics and listening tools preferred (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Radian6, Sysomos, RadiumOne, LiveRamp)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe/Google suite: Target/DFA/CMP
  • Excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills
  • Keynote experience preferred
